About me

When I read a blog I always like to know a little bit about the person behind the words. So I have created this page to let you know who I am. I am from Montana (where this picture was taken) and moved to California for college. I have lived in California ever since then, except for about 4 years spent in Taiwan as a missionary. (More about that in a minute.)

My interest in technology goes back to grade school, where I was known as the class science wiz. In Junior High my dad gave me an electronic kit to assemble and I became interested in electronics. Throughout Junior High and High School I assembled various circuits in the basement and just generally experimented with things. In college I originally was going to major in Computer Science but ended up in Philosophy.

While in High School I was asking a lot of questions about the meaning of life and whether there was really a God. Through some Christian friends I came to understand the significance of Christ’s death for my sins on the cross and God’s desire to have a personal relationship with us. Here are some links to more information about Jesus and a movie based on the Biblical accounts of His life.

While in college I was involved in various campus ministries and sensed God’s call to full-time vocational ministry. Upon graduation from college I proceeded into ministry and study at Talbot Seminary. After earning my M.Div. and Th.M. degrees at Talbot my wife and I went to Taiwan as missionaries. Since 1994 I have been the English congregation pastor at Chinese For Christ Church in Berkeley, CA.
